Senses I (sage ability).jpg

Senses I is an amateur-status sage ability that provides the character with an heightened degree of awareness relating to his or her five senses: sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste. This translates to a +1 bonus on all rolls relating to these senses. Some of these are listed below ... but the list is by no means complete, and will need to updated as other appropriate circumstances for this benefit are identified.

Sight

  • Increases the caster's ability to see in the dark by one grade of illumination; for example, from full dark to starlight, or starlight to dim moonlight.

Hearing

  • Improves the character's chance of not being surprised and winning initiative by +1 point when ambushed by an enemy.

Touch

  • When fighting within magical darkness, the character receives a +1 to hit opponents.
  • The character saves 1 action point when searching for an item in a pack or sack.
  • Improves the character's wisdom by 1 point when making checks vs. setting off a trap.

Smell

  • Improves the character's chance of not being surprised in any sort of encounter with an odourous creature, such as a skunk, troglodyte or rotting undead.

Taste

  • Grants five knowledge points to the character's ability to cook.
