Animal Training is a sage field available to various classes (fighter, paladin and ranger and assassin) — that provides systematic and cooperative process of teaching animals specific behaviors or skills through positive reinforcement, conditioning, or other methods to achieve desired outcomes. At its core, animal training seeks to establish a clear and effective symbiosis between humanoids and animals, allowing for a development of trust and cooperation that enables tasks to be performed that outweighs the advantage of both.

Contents

Trainers employ various techniques and cues to shape behavior, often employing the principles of operant conditioning. Positive reinforcement, in the form of rewards such as treats, praise, or affection, is a prevalent approach to encourage animals to repeat desired actions. These encompass the purposes of work, protection, entertainment and more. Those within these pursuits are also granted abilities to raise and breed animals, while caring for their health and well-being.

Studies

The field includes the following sage studies:

  • Camelback Riding: combines camel transportation in challenging deserts with their historical role in combat, showcasing their adaptability and strength.
  • Dog Training: involves harnessing dogs' abilities for various purposes, including defense, attack, transportation and labor. This comprehensive practice highlights the versatility and skills of these remarkable animals.
  • Flying Mounts: employs creatures like hippogriffs, pegasi and other aerial beings for both transportation and combat purposes, exemplifying their unique role in both mobility and battle.
  • Horseback Riding: akin to other mounts mentioned, signifies the utilization of horses for transportation, combat and various work-related tasks, highlighting their multifaceted role in human activities.
  • Mahout: serves as a rider, trainer and caregiver for elephants and oliphaunts, embodying a multifaceted role in their care and utilization.

"Mahout" and "Underwater Mounts" are studies not normally available to assassins.

In most cases, the primary focus of these disciplines involves the utilization of animals as riding mounts or as combat-trained creatures for warfare. Note that druids typically employ alternative methods and do not rely on animal training for combat or war-related purposes.
