Animals are a diverse and vast group of natural organisms that make up a significant portion of life in the game world. They can be found in virtually every habitat on the planet, from deep ocean trenches to deserts and forests. Most are capable of some form of movement during most of their life cycle. They have well-developed sensory organs that allow them to perceive and respond to their environment. These may include eyes, ears, noses, taste buds, and a variety of tactile receptors.

Animals possess a nervous system, which enables them to process information from their surroundings, make decisions and coordinate bodily functions. The complexity of the nervous system varies widely among different animal species.

Humanoids have a complex relationship with animals, relying on them for food, clothing, companionship and the performance of physical work. Various species have been domesticated and have an tremendous impact on agriculture. Wild animals are hunted or obtained through fishing. Many people keep animals as pets.

Animals and druids have a natural affinity for one another; to a lesser extent, rangers share this affinity also. Many druidical spells relate to the friendship, calling or manipulation of animals.

Subdivisions: amphibians & reptiles, mammals and birds. Animals don't include insects, mollusks and fishes or slime moulds, nor any unnatural living thing or construction.
