Croak is a cantrip that emits a sustained croaking sound that can manifest as a series of individual croaks or the chorus of at least a dozen frogs. This auditory illusion persists for a duration of 10 seconds, with subsequent random effects generating 5 to 8 croaks over the next 12 seconds before fading into silence. The sound carries up to 120 feet, and may lead an unwitting observer to mistake a lone frog for a giant frog upon failing an intelligence check.

The sound carries up to 120 feet, and may lead an unwitting observer to mistake a lone frog for a giant frog upon failing an intelligence check. The effect may be cast during the daytime, but its artificial nature would be instantly apparent as all in a medieval setting would know that frogs croak only at night.
Distraction
If used at night, just prior to the possibility of surprising an opponent, the chance for surprise is increased by 1 point, so that a roll of 3 in 6 would be sufficient. Characters and creatures who are normally surprised only on a 1, however, are unaffected by the auditory ruse.
If used against large, huge or giant frog, or a frog-like creature such as a frogling or a toad, the cantrip can force a croak against its will. In such cases, if the creature fails it's saving throw, it becomes unable to take any other action for 2 rounds.
