Grey Elves are a very long-lived race of highly sapient elves, whose nature it is to become high level mages and clerics. Once upon a time they possessed a lifespan that reached beyond 2,000 years, but much knowledge has been lost since that far off day and in the present game world it's very rare for a grey elf to live beyond four centuries. They are the heart and the guiding hand of elven culture wherever it exists, though there are perhaps less than 300 grey elves in all the world.

Grey elves adventure very little, though they are more resilient than other elves. They live entirely in elven communities and never alone. They improve in level very slowly, but hardly is one found anywhere to be less than of 10th level. Most commonly, there's only one to be found in any given settlement, whether a village or a town, or even a small city; however, where the seat of government exists, there are three, five or seven, but no more in one place. Typically, the most powerful grey elf present is 2 to 5 levels of experience beyond any other member of the community.
