Salt infuses a cooked meal or traditional recipe with the exact appropriate amount of salt, whatever the desired outcome might be. It's most useful in creating salt-meats for the purpose of preservation, as this may be done instantly with the cantrip while it can be troublesome otherwise.

Level | cantrip |
The amount of salt is immaterial to the magic involved. Thus, the amount of salt that's conjured to saturate fresh pork for preservation is far, far more than what's added to a pot of soup. In either case, the "right" amount of salt always occurs; the caster cannot force less or more salt on a whim. In meals, this right amount ensures the diners obtain their salt requirement for the day.
As such, ordinary water cannot be made salty and undrinkable, as this serves no obvious purpose. Simply put, the cantrip's magic is fickle.
However, though it's not a food product, slippery floors can be made safe — up to one combat hex per level. Additionally, if cast against a creature that's sensitive to salt, such as leeches, slugs, eels and other worms, the cantrip will cause 1-4 damage.
