Salt is a mage cantrip that enhances a cooked meal or traditional recipe by infusing it with the precise amount of salt required to achieve the desired flavour or culinary outcome. This cantrip proves particularly valuable when creating salt-meats for preservation, as it accomplishes the task instantly — a process that would otherwise be time-consuming and labor-intensive.

The amount of salt conjured by the Salt cantrip is entirely determined by the magic, independent of quantity. Whether appropriately saturating a slab of pork for preservation or seasoning a pot of soup, the cantrip produces precisely the amount needed for the intended purpose. This exactitude ensures that diners receive their daily salt requirement without excess or deficiency. The caster cannot manipulate the cantrip to add less or more salt at will; the magic strictly adheres to what is "right" for the situation.

The cantrip’s magic is inherently utilitarian, refusing to work in ways that lack a clear purpose. For instance, it cannot turn ordinary water salty and undrinkable, as this serves no practical function. This limitation highlights the magic's peculiar, fickle nature.
