Strength (spell)
Strength is a spell that increases the recipient's ability stat "strength" by 1–8 points, regardless of character class. This increase directly affects the character's chance to hit in combat and the amount of damage dealt, as well as modifying their encumbrance limitations. As a result, the character's overall movement allowance may also be altered, depending on the weight carried. The effects of the spell last for a limited duration and do not permanently alter the recipient's base strength score.

Characters whose strength is increased beyond 18 by the spell should familiarize themselves with the rules concerning percentile strength. As outlined there, a character with a strength of 17 who gains 8 points from the spell would progress to 18, 18/01, 18/11 and so forth until reaching 18/61. Likewise, a character with 18/67 strength would advance to 18/77, 18/87, 18/97, 18/00, then proceed beyond human limits to 19, 20, 21 and ultimately 22.
These immense increases are possible through the spell's magic, which not only enhances raw muscle power but also fortifies the body against its own unnatural strength. Without this reinforcement, the strain of lifting tremendous weight or striking with extreme force would cause the character's sinews to tear and bones to snap under the pressure. The magic sustains the physical structure, ensuring that the recipient's frame can handle the feats made possible by their heightened strength. However, once the spell ends, the character’s body returns to its natural limits, and any attempt to repeat such superhuman feats without magical aid will prove impossible.
