Speak with plants is a spell that grants the caster the capability to engage in communication with living plants, regardless of their level of intelligence. Through this enchantment, the caster can pose inquiries, acquire information and, in the case of plants possessing self-awareness, establish a sense of mutual trust.

The caster is limited to the information possessed by the plant itself. The extent of this knowledge can vary greatly depending on factors such as the plant's location, height, age (tall things can see farther) and its ability to perceive beyond its immediate surroundings within its habitat. The plant cannot spontaneously offer information; however, it readily provides truthful and comprehensive responses to general inquiries.
Mobile or moving plants tend to possess more knowledge compared to rooted ones, while intelligent plants have a greater wealth of information than their less sentient counterparts.
Asking Favours
The spell also affords the caster the ability to request services from the plant. For instance, the caster can ask the plant to perform tasks like parting its branches to create a path for passage, bending down to assist the caster in climbing, or carrying the caster for a distance equivalent to the spell's duration. Other potential services might be negotiated. However, the plant won't willingly endanger itself, venture into obviously perilous situations without suitable incentive, or engage in combat on behalf of the caster.
Over time, with continued interaction and rapport-building, it is possible for the caster to establish a trusting relationship with a plant. In some cases, this connection may evolve to the point where the plant becomes a dependable follower, offering its services and cooperation in various situations.
