Mask (cantrip).jpg

Mask is a cantrip that temporarily changes the caster's facial features to resemble those of a familiar humanoid. This is possible through having seen the individual at least three times in the last week, or by directly observing the person while casting the dweomer. The cantrip cannot replicate a character's voice.

Mask
Range touch
Duration 5 rounds
Area of Effect 1 creature
Casting Time 3 action points
Saving Throw none
Level cantrip

The authenticity of this magical transformation can be uncovered by spells like penetrate disguise, detect illusion or true seeing, though there is rarely enough time to cast any of these spells during the cantrip's duration, which lasts just one minute.

The cantrip might serve as a tool for deception, allowing the caster to momentarily adopt a different face. It's particularly useful when the caster needs to create a brief illusion, like appearing in a window or being "seen" near a crime scene, in order to frame someone else. The caster may then swiftly discard the illusion when moving out of sight, sowing confusion and diverting suspicion.
