Military Study I (sage ability).jpg

Military Study I is an amateur-status sage ability in the study of History that provides the character a clear grasp of the events surrounding the pursuit of war, including battles and general strategies employed by commanders and armies in the past. The character is well-steeped in historical diplomacy and wars, having studied the gains and losses by the victors and the defeated.

Most important, the character is able to communicate comfortably with military persons and soldiers, granting a +1 bonus to charisma when dealing with professionals of this type. The character is able to discuss the details of battles, equipment and tactics with these persons, so that persons hired by the character begin with a standard morale of 8 rather than 9.

Identify Weapons & Armour

Having examined hundreds upon hundreds of weapons and armour, many of which with historical pedigrees reaching into the distant pasts, characters with this sage ability have a percentage chance that's three times their knowledge points in history of identifying the magical bonus of magic weapons or magic armour, when they can be handled. This includes any extra bonuses for attacking special creatures, such as giants, dragons and so on.
