Dust removes dry powder and particles, cleaning floors, shelves, walls and so on, even cleaning the grit from mechanisms such as clocks, telescopes, crossbows and locks. If applied to a pile of dust, it will remove the top ⅛th but no more.

Dust
Range 10 ft.
Duration permanent
Area of Effect 10 ft. radius sphere
Casting Time 2 action points
Saving Throw none
Level cantrip

Detritus removed by the cantrip is sent into the Astral Plane, so there is no cloud of dust that's raised by the magic; for this reason, the cantrip cannot collect valuable materials such as explosive powder, sulphur, talc and guano. Grit that forms a gumbo with grease cannot be improved by the cantrip, as this needs to be cleaned. The cantrip has no effect upon dust devils or any other form of earth or air elementals.

The cantrip will remove evidence of footprints on a hard surface; this has no effect on tracking creatures, who will yet detect the odour of their prey in the air. However, it may lull a guard or shopowner ... so long as the floor was formerly dusty and is now beautifully clean.
