Break is a cantrip that induces fractures or cracks in artificially created objects made of any natural material, simulating strain. However, the incantation lacks the power to shatter or disintegrate items entirely. The result of this effect is the potential leakage of the object's contents ... rendering the broken article useless for its intended function.

When cast on a lighted object containing flammable liquid, such as a lantern or flask of oil, the contents will spread across a single hex area, igniting into flames. Anyone caught within this hex will sustain 1-4 damage.

When the break occurs, it makes a distinct but somewhat muted sound. This may go unheard by others who are more than 20 feet away; if there's a possibility of this, the potential listener needs to make a wisdom check, else the sound will go unnoticed.

The cantrip cannot affect an object in motion.

Uses

By creating a controlled break, the cantrip could be used to sabotage various machines or even set a building aflame, if a lamp is broken as described. Leaks or cracks could weaken structures containing immense amounts of liquid, such as vats used for brewing or distilling. The effectiveness of the cantrip relies on creativity and the environment, so it could have numerous inventive uses beyond these examples.
