Crack (cantrip).jpg

Crack is a cantrip that creates a sharp, whip-like crack, akin to the sound of a whip snapping or a fire crackling. This sound, resembling a whip's crack, has the potential to halt a moving animal such as a working horse or oxen, or drive one that stubbornly refuses to move.

Duration 1 round
Area of Effect 10 ft. circle, up to 1 creature or object
Casting Time 2 action points
Saving Throw negates; see text
Level cantrip

Additionally, the cantrip can produce a popping sound as if from a fire, serving as a distraction for an enemy within 30 feet who fail to make a saving throw vs. magic. This distraction translates to a -1 penalty to their initiative if attacked. Naturally, the sound of the crack could be used as a signal to allies, since it can be heard plainly to a distance of 60 feet.

Physical Crack

Alternately, the dweomer can be used to create a distinct crack in a smooth crystal surface, like in a pane of glass, crockery, a flat tile or ice that's no more than a quarter-inch thick. The effect cannot shatter the item, but will cause it to leak or give if stress is put upon it. Further, the item that's been cracked suffers a -1 penalty to its item saving throws.
