Sprout (cantrip).jpg

Sprout accelerates the germination and growth of existing vegetable or fruit seeds once they're planted. This shortens the total growing time by two weeks — the remaining time needed to fully grow and produce food depends on the form of plant.

Sprout
Range 10 ft.
Duration permanent
Area of Effect one square yard
Casting Time 2 action points
Saving Throw none
Level cantrip

Once the cantrip is applied once, it cannot be used on the same patch of ground or affect the same plants again. Moreover, the cantrip has no effect on plants that have already sprouted — though it could help to increase the size of patch that could be grown with the amount of labour available.

The magic saves a negligible amount of labour to grow plants, since it covers the gestation period over which plants would ordinarily grow themselves. In many ways, a "weed" cantrip would be more useful.

Natural effects that would take place, such as a late season freeze, are unaffected by the cantrip.
