Sour gives food an acidic, rancid taste, rendering it inedible. The effect is visible as it occurs, and may be as intense so far as food may naturally sour.

It's impractical to sour food in the mouth of the consumer, but depending on lighting conditions and attention span, an individual might take a bit or a swallow without realizing; make a wisdom check. In that case, the soured food will induce vomiting that will last for three rounds.

Milk can be intentionally and gently soured for its use in making bread. Likewise, wine can be soured so as to produce vinegar.
