Accompaniment (spell).jpg

Accompaniment creates an illusionary figure able to provide musical support for a bard giving a stage performance — or to encourage allied combatants to greater effectiveness and merit on the field of battle, by enunciating the strains of war.

Accompaniment
Range 20 ft.
Duration 4 minutes +1 minute
per level; see text
Area of Effect 60 ft.; 1 creature
Casting Time 1 round
Saving Throw none
Level bard (2nd)

The magical accompanist improves a bard's performance in the fields of circus, dance, drama, music and puppetry, improving the performer's charisma by 2 points overall and the effectiveness of the performance by 1% per three minutes of play. Before this benefit can be fully understood, further work on these bardic fields must be completed.

While playing, the accompanist will be ignored and accepted as a non-target by the enemy, but it's presence will be heard and will give warning to an enemy, foiling any possibility of surprise or stealth.

Battle

Through the accompanist's magical performance, the caster is able to take advantage of martial spirit sage ability. Allies within a range of 60 ft. receive a a +1 bonus to hit and also to damage for a period of 4 rounds plus 1 round per level.

In addition, the caster is able to increase one friendly combatant's fighting ability by two levels for the full duration of the spell, a total of 20 rounds plus 4 per level. The spell increases the recipient's THAC0, number of attacks (if gained at the acquired level), natural armour class and open-hand damage according to the character's class. However, it has no effect on spellcasting, sage abilities, gained weapon proficiencies, hit points or anything else not named. These benefits remain so long as the recipient remains within 60 ft. of the accompanist.
