Detect illusion reveals any illusion as such, disclosing its true nature to the caster. Once the illusion is understood, the caster is immune to any deleterious effects the illusion can impose; the caster may, however, continue to acquire whatever benefits the illusion might offer, as some illusions are pleasant.

The caster can attempt to describe the true nature of revealed illusions to others, provided they are within speaking distance (about 60 ft.). Those who trust the caster — other members of the party, henchfolk, followers and retainers — may then make a saving throw against magic. Those who succeed also become immune to an illusion's harmful powers. Those who fail remain in the belief that the illusion is real.
If the spell's duration ends, the knowledge gained is retained by the caster and those who have saved; a known illusion remains known. As yet undetected illusions appear real, however.
