Language (sage study)

Language is a sage study in the field of Humanities, by which the character understands the existence and application of complex forms of communication, enabling the character to communicate with creatures who do not use the common language of the world, either verbally or through written means. Rather than focusing upon what languages the character may know, the ability focuses on the patterns and philosophy of language that permits the potential understanding of any language, given sufficient time or a sufficient amount of written material. The degree to which this is possible is described in the various abilities assigned to the character depending on their knowledge in the study.
