Ceramics is a sage field available to bards, centered around the ancient crafts of pottery, ceramics, glassblowing, clay masonry, glazing and related skills. These allow characters to excel in the delicate and practical arts of shaping clay and harnessing the power of creation. These elemental manipulations and artistic expressions give characters a profound and unusual set of skills, adding a new dimension to character creation.

Contents

In light of this, a character's adventuring is nuanced by a desire to gather rare and exotic materials for their crafts or to seek inspiration from the natural world. Uncovering lost techniques, the establishment of personal spaces for the purpose of making unusual objects and ultimately artifacts, becomes an intrinsic part of the individual's motivations and personal achievements.

Sage Studies

The field includes the following sage studies:

  • Clay Masonry: allows the making and design of structural elements, crafting bricks, pipes, floor and roof tiles, and even the creation of kilns and crucibles for metal or glass production.
  • Clay Materials: gives a thorough study of silicas, ferrites, kaolin and other earthly components, with the character becoming capable in the art of sourcing and composing rare materials for handicrafts and artistic expression. The world is their quarry as they search for the most elusive and unique raw materials.
  • Glaze: provides ability to achieve fine artistic expression, seeking colour, beauty and the transformative potential within modelled clay, creating one-of-a-kind masterpieces while learning all there is to know about the effects that firing in a kiln can offer.
  • Modelling: enables the manipulation of clay, glass, stoneware, porcelain and crystal to form three-dimensional objects, sculptures or figurines, capturing the unique creative vision of the character's imagination.
