Prognostication is an amateur-status sage ability in the study of Divination which grants the character insight in choosing the best approach to be taken with regards to divination — telling the best spell to be used or the best traditional method. Note that the character would know the best means from those choices that are available — and the least likely effective choice as well. In all cases, it is presumed that the DM (who possesses the knowledge) will be forthcoming when the character needs to make a decision.

The study does not provide any special benefit from the use of any specific form. Spells will operate as always, as will traditional divination practices. However, the knowledge will allow the player an improved guess at how questions — where these apply — should be worded, to better ensure that the answers are straightforward and most helpful.
