Pass without Trace (spell).jpg

Pass without Trace enables the recipient to travel over any surface, including mud, snow, sand or dust, without leaving either a footprint or a scent. The spell doesn't provide movement bonuses, but the recipient may move at any stride, and any object that is carried, without leaving trace.

Pass without Trace
Range touch
Duration 10 rounds per level
Area of Effect 1 creature per level
Casting Time 1 round
Saving Throw none
Level druid (1st)

The spell can be cast upon a horse or other mount, but then the rider would leave a trace upon dismounting. The spell grants no benefit to non-living creatures, such as wagons, carts or seagoing craft.

The benefits given can greatly improve the chance of the avoiding an amateur or authority-status tracker, but an expert will recognize the effects of the spell and will compensate for it, guessing approximately where to pick up the trail again. Remember that the spell is in effect for a mere two minutes per level — though this is enough for a character with evasion skill to outwit an expert tracker.
