Maxwell (talk) Why is protection from lightning a fourth level spell, compared to protection from fire as a third level spell? These are the reasons I can think of:

• Fire is a more common damage type. With more fire-dealing enemies around, it's good game design for players to get access to fire mitigation before electric; it also keeps electric enemies/attacks scary even once fire is more of a known quantity. There's an in-world justification as well, namely that druids would prioritize learning the spell which protects against more attacks
• Protection from Lightning gives an automatic pass for saving throws, compared to a saving throw bonus *and* damage reduction for Pro. from Fire [and, speaking of the Pro. from Fire damage reduction, does that mean that a fire spell which normally deals 50% damage on a saving throw deals 1/4 damage to someone who saves while affected by Pro. from Fire?]

Tao alexis (talk) Looking at it, because it's a higher level spell, the protection from lightning should have the area of effect increased to 20 ft. rather than ten, and the endurance to 2 rounds per level instead of one. Other than that, it can be left alone.
