Talk:Patronage (sage study)
From The Authentic D&D Wiki
Jump to navigationJump to searchMaxwell (talk) There is a sage ability by this name on the old wiki. But as far as I understand it you have reworked the bard abilities since then. Where does that ability fit into this study?
Tao alexis (talk) Let's put it here and I'll delete the page from the old wiki.
OLD NOTES on Patronage
- Allows the character to locate and assess artists and musical composers, recognizing those with talent and at the same time communicating fruitfully with them towards providing them with the resources they need to produce good work. Effectively, the character knows enough as an amateur to communicate with artists and be accepted as one of their own.
- A sufficient gathering of artists will occur in any town with an excess of 5,000 residents; a community of this size will possess an Artist of Quality [placeholder], able to appropriately ornament a temple or church, improving the effectiveness of that space sufficiently to increase a cleric's success at building a congregation. This is, however, very expensive, for each 2,000 g.p. spent in artistic ornamentation, modify the cleric's charisma upwards by 1 point.
- The patronage skill is required to determine how a temple should be ornamented and to communicate this information to the artist. The artist's opinion is invalid. Note that a clerical patron of the same religion can be called in to counsel on the matter if the resident cleric does not have this ability.
