Plant Growth (spell)
Plant Growth causes normal vegetation to grow, entwine and entangle so as to form a thicket, copse, shrubbery or wood, as desired. Plants affected cannot be made to grow beyond their natural limitations - nor are the plants given any special strength that is not inherent in their structure.
Range | 160 ft. |
Duration | permanent |
Area of Effect | 1 ft. growth per level in a 20 sq. ft. area (16 hexes) |
Casting Time | 2 rounds |
Saving Throw | none |
Level | druid (3rd) |
The spell's effect will extend all the branches or blades of growth uniformly. Briars, branches, creepers, lianas, roots, saplings, thistles, thorns, trees, vines and weeds can be made to be so thick and overgrown that the plant will form a complete barrier against intrusion. Even using a machete or other hacking tool, movement through a brake of this sort will be slowed by 10% per foot of growth (level of the caster).
Since the spell's duration is permanent, over much time the caster can use the spell to create an extensive lair composed of mazes, barriers and tightly grown brush — however, the exact direction of growth cannot be controlled by the caster. However, once the growth has occurred, lattices can be hand-woven and splices and shaping employed, aided by specific sage abilities the caster and the caster's hirelings possess.
