Paralyzation (spell)
Paralyzation utterly paralyzes victims of the spell, regardless of size or hit dice, for the duration of the spell, if a saving throw is not made.
Range | self |
Duration | 2 rounds +1 round per level |
Area of Effect | 30 degree arc, 30 ft. path |
Casting Time | 2 rounds |
Saving Throw | negates |
Level | illusionist (3rd) |
The effects of the paralysation is to cause creatures to cease all movement, crash to the ground and remain prone for the duration of the spell. Victims are not stiff as boards, but will be unable to feel their own bodies, despite being fully conscious and aware. They will be able to hear and see (depending on their orientation).
In all cases victims will be otherwise helpless. They will drown in water (taking damage as described below to measure how long this takes), suffer the effects of flame or damage, all without breaking the power of the spell.
For attacks with weapons against paralyzed creatures, see Helpless Defenders.
To the side is a list of the damage done to creatures in the space of a round by a single attacker. As size increases, damage done to accessible parts of the body are judged to be less effective against the whole creature.
Placeholder.
Once the paralyzation wears off, a creature must expend one round standing and regaining its ability to be combative, during which time attacks and damage are done normally. The first round of attacking that is done by a creature that was paralyzed suffers a –4 penalty to hit AND damage.
