Freshen (cantrip)

Freshen is a cantrip that eliminates all odours or smells from any material or substance within the cantrip's range. This includes offensive smells such as those from skunks, corpses, feces, rotted food and burning sulphur, along with any other unpleasant scents that might diminish the character's appeal or create discomfort for others.

Additionally, the magic of this cantrip can counteract the nauseating effects of odours, such as those from gas, the stinking cloud spell and the foul emanations of creatures like troglodytes, but only for one recipient during the cantrip's duration.

While the cantrip masks the smell, it doesn't permanently remove it from the affected area. Once the cantrip's duration ends, the area will revert to its original, unpleasant condition, with the intensity of the smell returning to its natural level. In some cases, the clean cantrip may permanently eliminate the smell, but in situations involving rotting food or a corpse, the smell may persist as gases continue to emanate from within, even after the clean-up.

The cantrip can be particularly useful in environments such as dungeons, kitchens or marketplaces, where unpleasant odours are common. While limited in its scope and duration, it offers a brief reprieve, making it highly practical for short-term relief.
