Grease (spell)
Grease is a spell that conjures a slick, treacherous surface within its area of effect, causing those who step upon it to lose their footing and fall. It is assumed that creatures do not perceive the hazard before stepping onto it. The spell does not affect beings exceeding 1,000 lbs. in weight, as their mass prevents them from being significantly hindered by the slickness.

The affected hexes must be chosen within the spell's range at the moment of discharge, though they do not need to be contiguous. Each hex is fully covered; partial hexes cannot be affected. A creature stepping onto a greased hex must immediately make a save vs. petrification. If multiple hexes are crossed, a separate saving throw is required for each one.
Failing the save causes the creature to fall, suffering 1 damage. Creatures who successfully save must use AP to escape the greased surface, potentially forcing them into an unintended position on the battlefield. If a creature falls, it must crawl off the affected area on hands and knees, suffering a -4 penalty to its armour class and incurring a 1 AP penalty for each greased hex it attempts to exit.
Other Uses
The spell's effect extends beyond floors and open ground. Ropes, ladder rungs, doorknobs, stairs, railings and similar surfaces may also be greased. A creature unknowingly leaning against a greased railing over a precipice must make a saving throw or slip and fall. When determining how much vertical space the grease can affect, use the hex's five-by-five square foot area as a guideline.
