Commune with Nature (spell)
Commune with Nature is a spell that allows the caster to become one with nature, granting a full and complete knowledge of the world within a distance of 3¼ miles. This corresponds closely to the area of a 6-mile hex, though the spell's radius of course depends upon the caster's exact location, not the hex itself.

Once the spell is cast, the individual becomes intensely aware of every significant thing that exists within the area of effect. This includes the presence of different forms of vegetation, bottom lands, cultivation and grazing lands. The courses of rivers and streams are understood, including any brook or creek that is larger than 3 ft. wide. Every pond and body of water that is at least an acre in area is seen, and there is an understanding of which would be practical for catch or net fishing. Areas of rock, glacier, caves, hot springs and geysers also become known. This includes the presence of inhabited dungeons as well. In all cases the caster knows how to walk to and see any of these places, even after the spell's duration has passed.
The spell permits a comprehension of every significant habitation, including thorps and larger conglomerations, along with roads, routes and even walking paths, so long as these are trod upon by at least 50 persons per day. Any conglomeration of at least 50 persons or animals can be identified, in way stations, actively moving along a road, camped in a given spot or taking part in a festival. Their location and approximate number, within a dozen people, is known, but not their destination or purpose. For as long as the spell is active, the caster can watch their progress — a capacity that might reach its full potential if wishing to track the advance of an army or a sufficiently large number of raiders.
Sacred places, shrines, glades, sanctuaries and holy crypts are also included in the knowledge this spell offers. However, the spell will not reveal the presence of minerals; the freshness of water; the location of any single animal or item; the nature of any single or smaller number of people; the location of, say, a unicorn or any other beast; or any other like trifling bit of existence too small to be considered "of nature." It cannot detect the presence of wild magic or ley lines, as these are not significant enough in themselves to be located in this fashion.
