Mercantilism is a sage study in the field of Civitas, bestowing awareness of the principles, practice and legal ramifications of the present economy, with the skill and ability to raise capital, organize and manage loans, control wages, maximize profit on resources, encourage manufacturing, avoid tariffs, fees and other taxes and in general create a successful and complex business through a combination of innovation and guile. The knowledge includes the potential to act in a legal or an illegal manner, ethics being left for the character to decide.

Sage Abilities

The sage abilities below are those acquired by a character through the study, according to status.

Amateur Status

  • Bargaining: gives skill at negotiating prices with the seller of goods in order to obtain a better deal on a transaction.


Authority Status

  • Bartering: enables an even exchange of goods within a given market archetype.
