While the real world viability of bloodletting brings varied opinions and raises contention, for game purposes we can ascribe whatever value we wish to the practice. We may freely ascribe application to ensuring good health through deliberate draining of the blood by the knife or with leeches - so long as it is practiced by a professional - as well as promoting a combative potential against game elements such as possession, transformation of the flesh (human/demi-human into undead, molds or jellies) or insanity.
