Unreality is a sage field available to illusionists, elucidating the mystical and supernatural phenomena present in the game's universe, allowing the character to explore the theoretical underpinnings of magical energy, mythological biology, the interplay between different planes of existence and the possibilities of technology. Characters in this field are thus allowed to innovate using the building blocks of the fantastic according to their whim.
This gives the opportunity to design intricate tools and environments, or influence events and time, in a playground with unconventional dynamics — thus fostering a sense of wonder and exploration within the game setting that breaks away from the constraints of real-world logic and conventions.
Studies
The field includes the following sage studies:
- Mutations: provides knowledge of creatures whose inceptions are clearly aberrant, due to its unreal nature or the corruption of some biological design or ancestry.
- Occultism: the investigation into the nature of magic and specifically wild magic, the intrinsic force that permeates reality and acts of its own unconstrained accord.
- Planar Travel & Gating: knowledge of how to transition self and others from one existence to another, granting the wherewithal to cross into the ethereal or across the Astral Plane.
- Steam & Gasgear: enables the manufacture of anachronistic or retrofuturistic technology, using steam and other gasses, gears, valves and ingenuity.
