Make Jewellery is an amateur-status sage ability that enables the character to make non-complex personal ornaments, such as necklaces, rings, bracelets, belts, chains, earrings, fobs, pendants and pins. Other items may not be made by characters with only an amateur knowledge in delicate metalwork. If the character lacks the ability to silversmith, then the only metals that may be worked are bronze, tin, copper and iron.
The value of object that's produced depends upon the prices for jewellery in that part of the world. The ability grants no special knowledge in the sale or bartering of any objects that are made.
Tools
The character requires tools, including a small hammer and 3 lb. anvil, a hammer for dooming, a few fine pliers, blow-pipes, burnishers, scrapers, a die and punch, a pair of fine dividers and a delicate set of scales and weights. These comprise the chief appliances for a travelling jeweller. A square, strong table, some 5 ft. by 3, is necessary, as are the metals in the form of bars and plates. The character is fully able to flatten, fold, meld, solder or melt these metals for pouring, to produce the object desired.
The time to create items is explained under silversmithing.
Additions
The character possesses little practical knowledge of how to properly set stones into jewellery pieces. Still, any stone or gem may be attached to a piece of jewellery by the use of glues, solders or encaging the stone ... but this arrangement appears less than professional to a buyer with a good eye, while risking the stone's loss, as such tend to break loose when placed by an amateur.
Character's lacking knowledge as an etcher will find it difficult to create elaborate patterns, though simple patterns are possible for a diligent amateur jeweller.
