Marriage is an amateur-status sage ability in the study of Ritual, by which the cleric enacts a ritual binding individuals together in the eyes of his or her religion, empowering the newlyweds in their faith so as to better sustain danger and the encroachment of malevolence.
When within 20 feet of one another, married persons will gain a +2 save versus all attacks. If a married person should be in danger (defined as having less than five hit points or being in a precarious situation where death could result within the space of a moment), this will grant to the counterpart a +2 attack modifier 'to hit' whenever line-of-sight is present.
When married couples are separated and seeking one another, there is the possibility of a premonition whenever a married character must make a wholly even choice between two to four variables - such as which of two doors should be chosen, which of three hallways would correctly lead to the couple together, which of four levers should be pulled and similar puzzles. This premonition is only possible when the couple is actively seeking to be reunited. When facing such a decision, the character is entitled to roll a d4, with a rolled 1 indicating the correct variable.
The death of a spouse will empower the widow or widower to act as a berserker (with full control of his or her faculties) for the space of 24 hours, whereupon the character will suffer from melancholia for the space of a week.
Married persons must remain together until death do them part, unless this agreement is broken by annulment. Note that many religions do not permit an annulment under any circumstance.
