Palm is a cantrip that allows the caster to steal or remove a small object merely by touching a place nearby, whereupon it instantly reappears in the caster's hand, pouch, a nearby sack or in a doublet pocket, as desired. The stolen item cannot exceed the size of the caster's hand or be farther away than five inches from the place touched.

If the item is openly visible beforehand, even in view of witnesses, the disappearance won't be noted until a full five rounds, or one minute, has passed. The relocation is instantaneous, but if desired the caster may quickly move it or have a confederate do so, to increase the unlikelihood of the caster being searched successfully.
This ability, when creatively applied, could have multifaceted uses, should the caster use it to cast suspicion on some, or create confusion, however the cantrip is used. Items might be stolen and left behind, surreptiously relocated for eventual obtaining at a later time, to throw off suspicion. Naturally, there's nothing to stop the caster from using the dweomer for illicit gains, even to obtain cheap and easy food items or other objects from a town market.
