Gather (cantrip).jpg

Gather is a cantrip that brings together assorted, dispersed items like coins, fragments of a dropped object, miscellaneous gear, nails, papers, beads, small stones and more, organizing them into a tidy stack or heap. If a companion holds an open sack, chest, box, or backpack within the spell's radius, the caster can channel the collected items into the container.

The cantrip lacks the ability to target individual items within a collection. It's unable to effectively manipulate particles weighing less than 1/100th of an ounce, such as sand or dust. Furthermore, the practical threshold for this cantrip is limited to 10,000 objects.

Certainly, given that the object meets the magical parameters of the gather cantrip, it can be employed to retrieve items from narrow crevices or maneuver a key from beneath a door to the desired spot. Similarly, objects could be drawn together from within a mudpuddle, as the silt particles that are too diminutive for the cantrip to influence would be ignored, whereas stones or metal fragments could be drawn out. Players might discover other inventive applications for the cantrip, exploring its possibilities along these lines.
