Floriculture (sage ability).jpg

Floriculture is an amateur-status sage ability in the study of Flowers & Sprigs describing a discipline concerned with the cultivation of flowering and ornamental plants for gardens and the production, commerce and trade in flowers. The character will be able to identify the genera and species of flowers and identify their value. A single individual will be able to plant and raise up to one quarter acre of climate-appropriate flowers, which will produce approximately 500 lbs. of flower mass during a four-month season (featuring two periods of growth and harvest).

Singular flowers of quality can be raised indoors in carefully constructed orangeries. A grower can raise 25 stems per square foot, requiring about 30 minutes labor overall (over a period of 45 to 60 days). Flowers cannot be left untended for more than a ten-day period; for each day that flowers have been ignored past this time, reduce their value by 10% (this cannot be regained). Flowers will begin to die after being ignored for a period of two weeks, becoming dead after being ignored for 20 days.

A bundle of nice quality flowers (15 stems) will weigh approximately 1.7 ounces and fetch as many times over usual price of flowers as the character has knowledge points.
