Trees is a sage study in the field of Plant Life. It encompasses knowledge of large perennials with an elongated stem, or trunk, supporting branches and leaves, of the deciduous, broadleaf and coniferous varieties.

Trees in the wild and those that are cultivated produce a wide variety of useful products, notably fruit, treenuts and lumber, as well as leaves for fodder and a variety of spices and incense. Characters who possess knowledge of trees are able to exploit trees both as a natural resource and as an ornamental — and sometimes defensive — environment.

Sage Abilities

The sage abilities below are those acquired by a character through the study, according to status.

Amateur Status

  • Pruning: allows for the intensive improvement of trees by cutting away superfluous or undesired growth.
  • Sylvics: identification of genera and species of trees on sight.
  • Tree Climbing: gives skill at climbing upwards through foliage at a rapid, safe rate.
  • Woodcutting: skill at selecting and cutting timber to sustain a forest while drawing it's resources.
