Sheltering is an authority-status sage ability in the study of Scouting, enabling the character to choose a place in the wild that offers the best protection from the elements and will enable a safer place for sleeping or rest. The primary benefit will be that the chance of wandering encounter will be reduced from a 1 in 6 to a 1 in 8 — though it is likely that additional rules will be applied to damage suffered from travelling in the wilderness. See Wilderness Damage.
