The Adrar Temar, or Adrar Plateau, is a pavement desert ("reg") of the western Sahara Desert, in the tribal lands of Richat, within the lands of Sanhaja. The plateau occupies an area some 28,000 sq.m. in size. Generally barren, the plateau consists of a low structural massif that rises between 1,500 and 2,200 ft. above sea level, stretching northeastward about 200 mi. from the town of Chinguetti to the Taoudeni basin. There are oases in the valleys and sparse forests in the highlands.

The region lies along the caravan route from Morocco to Senegal. The inhabitants are Mozabian, or Mozabites, a large, leathery-skinned humanoids with thin, tufted hair standing seven ft. tall.

Goods produced in the region are marketed at Tidjikja to the south. They include ostrich feathers, dates, salt, camels and goats. The last are raised for meat, as the Mozabians are cannibalistic in nature.
